It’s said that instead of asking “Why is my child giving me a hard time?” that we are better served asking “Why is my child HAVING a hard time?” In this workshop we will look at the differences between tantrums and meltdowns, and delve into peaceful and positive ways in which to support children having a hard time. We’ll also examine the eight senses, how those play into rough days, and sensory based strategies for minimizing and even preventing meltdowns.

Learn to keep children safe in cars as they grow by completing modules on rear-facing and forward-facing car seat use, as well as booster seat and seat belt use. Proof of completion from the Child Passenger Safety Board will be provided at the end of the course.

Chevelle Frederick Master Newborn Care Specialist & Lead Instructor at Newborn Care Solutions

Chevelle is a well-known CACHE Certified NCS and Master Newborn Care Specialist® with 9 years of experience caring for infants and over 10,000 hours of hands-on care exclusively with newborns. She also has training in sleep conditioning, lactation education, new parent education as well as her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology and has been a past member of the International Nanny Association.

First and foremost, Chevelle is passionate about babies and has a heart for families. She enjoys educating and empowering parents with a logical, common sense approach and evidence-based information during the transitional phases of life as a new family.

She also has a level head and is the voice of reason in our global caregiver community. In addition, she is a mentor and advocate for new NCSs just discovering themselves in this amazing field. She’s an amazing entrepreneur with an awesome vision for this industry.


Amy Brownrigg Certified Child Passenger Safety Tech

Amy is one of the admins. with Dallas Area Nannies. In addition to being a career nanny with 15+ years of experience under her belt she also has a passion for making sure kids are riding the safest they can be in the vehicle. She is a Certified Child Passenger Safety Tech (CPST) and is also Special Needs (STAC) trained. She loves to donate her time doing community seat check events in the DFW metroplex as well as advocating for car seat safety among many different forums.


Shannon Engbrecht Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) & Therapist

Shannon Engbrecht currently serves as the Clinical Director for Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center, and has been in the field of child and family welfare field for the last 5 years of practice. She has also recently entered into part-time private practice, treating children, teens, adults, and elderly population for challenges in coping with life changes, trauma, caregiving support, depression, anxiety, and work stress. Her current practice is centered around providing trauma informed, whole person healing to children and non-offending family members through therapy and resource coordination as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. Shannon has engaged in social work practice in the healthcare, criminal justice, community education, and mental health fields since becoming licensed in 2015.

Shannon received her BSW in 2014 from Tarleton State University, and her MSW from Texas A&M University – Commerce in 2017. She achieved her LCSW licensure in 2021 and has every intention of working to better client lives and educate the community in order to give back to the profession that has given her so much.


Tara Lindsay

Tara Lindsay is the cofounder and Director of the Michigan Professional Nanny Association. She began her nanny career 33 years ago and since then has worked with a wide array of families and children. She is trained as a Newborn Care Specialist, birth doula, postpartum doula, and Family Assistant. Tara is also credentialed by the International Nanny Association. She currently works as a full time nanny in the metro Detroit area. She is a passionate advocate for nannies and children. In her spare time, Tara enjoys singing, volunteering, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
